ChatGPT Complements Language Skills of People with Neurodiversity

People with neurodiversity have difficulty forming coherent sentences. ChatGPT helps them become more efficient by reducing the time it takes to formulate sentences.

  ChatGPT complements the language skills of people with neurodiversity. Neurodiversity refers to neurological characteristics that fall outside of typical categories due to differences in brain neurology.

  Billy Hendry, who has dyslexia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and autism spectrum disorder, was able to write an organized cover letter thanks to ChatGPT.

  First, ChatGPT helped him naturally correct awkward sentences. It changed the sentence “I am writing to you to apply for the position of Project Manager” to “Dear Recruiter, I am excited to apply for the position of Project Manager in your organization.

  ChatGPT also allowed Hendry to input what he wanted to include in his cover letter, and then added wording that would highlight his strengths.

  “Large language models will have revolutionary results in helping diverse people fit into the workplace,” says Carrie Cooper, professor of organizational psychology at the University of Manchester in the UK. “They will be very helpful for people with neurodiversity, especially those with autism spectrum disorders. They have difficulty forming coherent sentences.”
